Science and Technology Challenge Day

Havering Sixth Form College

On Wednesday June 10th, 12 of our year 8 Science students attended the Gifted and Talented Science and Technology Challenge Day at Havering Sixth Form where they competed with 6 other Havering Schools. The girls were paired up and put into 6 teams working with 2 students (including boys) from another school. Each team of 4 was asked to design 3 out of a possible 4 challenges: a robot, a buoy, a vehicle and a bridge. Our girls were well behaved, confident, assertive, technically aware and excellent team players. They contributed in every way to the planning and design of the projects.

The final results for the challenge day were as follows:

**  Runners up in ALL 4 challenges

** Winners in the BUOY challenge-

Ria O’Driscoll and Louise Riddick of 8 Set 2.

Well done girls!! You made us proud!

The overall winner of the day was the team of 2 students from Gaynes and 2 from Marshall’s Park. Certificates were awarded to all 12 participants and plaques were awarded to Ria and Louise.
