LEVEL 1 COURSE IN SPORTS LEADERSHIP

This is a nationally recognised qualification run by SPORTLEADERS UK.

It is aimed at pupils aged 14 years and over and is taught within the PE curriculum.  The aim of the award is to develop a pupil’s skills in organising activities, planning, communicating and motivating others.

Miss Sambrook and Miss Broyd currently teach forty, Year 10 girls who are working towards this qualification.

Modules which they will complete include:

  1. Planning, preparing and assisting a simple sporting activity

  2. Basic communication skills

  3. Principles and practice in delivering health and fitness sessions

  4. Understanding fair play in sport

  5. Understanding the role of the sports official

  6. Understanding the scope of local sport and recreation activities

  7. Demonstration of leadership skills in sport

This is a practical qualification, so throughout the course pupils will plan and deliver sessions to their peers and pupils from local primary schools. They will be assessed on their leadership skills.
