Aims & Objectives

  • To maintain and/or stimulate pupil curiosity, interest and enjoyment in Religious Education.

  • To enable pupils to be familiar with the body of religious knowledge, principles, skills and vocabulary.

  • To enable pupils to see Religious Education in the context of a wider body of knowledge and skills.

  • To enable pupils to be able to work independently and as part of a team.

  • To develop an awareness in pupils of the implications of religion (past and present) for the individual, the community and the environment.

  • To allow the pupils to develop informed opinions and to be able to support them by reasonable arguments.

  • To enable pupils to understand themselves as spiritual beings.

  • To encourage pupils to be respectful and tolerant of the views of others.

  • To raise standards of achievement and to address the individual needs of all pupils encouraging the fulfilment of their potential.

  • To promote high levels of literacy.

  • To bring the school mission statement to life for pupils and to foster the values of the gospel and the pursuit of life long learning.

  • To maintain excellent GCSE & A level grades.
