THE CAREERS DEPARTMENT
The Careers Department has recently moved to the new purpose-built careers suite in the Sixth Form block. It provides information for students of any age who are interested in finding out more about future pathways, whether it is about further or higher education, or employment. It has a friendly atmosphere and staff and prefects are always willing help.
A comprehensive series of lessons progresses through from Year 9 in Pastoral programme, then into rotation groups in years 10 and 11. All girls undertake 2 weeks’ work experience in the summer of Year 10. Careers interviews are available to all girls in the upper school. The Connexions Service is available to pupils from year 9 upwards. Pupils are able to have individual interviews with a connexions personal advisor about their future careers. Connexions and UCAS cards are available for all girls in the sixth form. The department has various external speakers who give talks on a wide range of career themes: including medicine applications, choosing the right university for you and finance in higher education.
