On Wednesday 25th March, Years 7 and 8 took part in a 'Democracy in Action' day. The day consisted of an interactive Theatre presentation about making choices and working together, a session where pupils created their own political party and campaign, and a discussion about 'safety' followed by a session writing letters about this issue to local MPs. These campaign posters will be displayed in the school and a selection of the letters will be sent to our local MPs, who have responded positively to the girls' input in the past. Here are some of the pupils' comments about the day:
'I learned that we are lucky to be able to express how we feel and our ideas towards our government'
'I enjoyed the day because it made it more interesting to learn about the government and the kind of country we live in'
'I learned that democracy isn't all about government, we make choices now, even at our age'
'I learned that you have to make democratic decisions every day'
'We've got to make our views count'
'I learned that children can make a difference'
